Career Opportunities in M.B.B.S

Today Healthcare services are one of the most respective and hardest earned professions. The bachelors’ course in medicine & surgery is M.B.B.S. (Bachelor in Medicine & Bachelor in Surgery) which qualifies a person to take up practice as a physician or surgeon after a post qualification internship training period in a hospital or health care institution. M.B.B.S. education begins after class 12 (10 + 2) stage completion with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as compulsory subjects. The selection is through various competitive entrance examination or a few management and NRI quota seats. All doctors examine patients as part of their job to determine the cause and complexity of sickness and offer corrective treatment or medicine or therapy.

They have to answer patients questions or queries regarding their health, attend to trauma, accidents & other medical emergences at odd hours; therefore the hours of work are strenuous & long and stress full. But as a career it is both rewarding and fulfilling – especially for those who are compassionate & caring and find satisfaction in their ability to help others and reduce their sufferings.

The medical science today is highly specialized and a M.B.B.S. degree is by no means adequate. It has to be followed by a specialized M.D/M.S. for the person to become a specialist. Post doctoral specializations or super specialization are now commonly needed in super specialty hospitals.
